John Watson
John Watson is the founder and principal of John Watson Architectural Consultant Ltd. With over three decades of experience in the built environment, John brings a rare balance of creative design thinking and technical precision to every project.
John’s journey into architecture began at an early age. His father, an architect with the Livingston Development Corporation, established his own practice in the early 1990s, where John first began working in 1992. This formative experience fostered a deep respect for the craft and a practical understanding of the industry from the ground up.
He went on to study at Telford College, the Glasgow School of Art, and Napier University, where he earned a degree in Building Engineering Management. His education combined architectural design with a rigorous grounding in construction and project delivery — a dual strength that continues to shape his work today.
In 2004, John founded John Watson Architectural Consultant Ltd, with a vision to create a practice that offered thoughtful, client-focused architecture delivered with professional integrity. That same year, he became a member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) — a recognition of his commitment to the highest standards of technical excellence.

David Boyle
David Boyle is a Director at John Watson Architectural Consultant Ltd, bringing a considered and contemporary perspective to the practice’s work. His approach is grounded in a lifelong passion for architecture and a commitment to thoughtful, technically robust design.
David’s interest in the built environment began at an early age, driven by a fascination with how architecture shapes the way people live, work, and connect. In 2008, he began his formal studies at Edinburgh Napier University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Architectural Technology in 2012.
While completing his degree, David joined the practice part-time in 2011 and transitioned to a full-time role upon graduation in 2012. Over the years, he has become a key part of the studio’s development — bringing a detail-oriented mindset, a collaborative spirit, and a forward-thinking design sensibility to projects of all scales.
In 2022, David became a Director of the practice, reflecting his leadership within the team and his ongoing dedication to delivering architecture that is both technically sound and deeply responsive to clients’ needs.
